Blogger mixes templates, with simple font and colour customisations on one hand and the ability to customise and modify the template stylesheets on the other hand. Blogger allows you to choose one of the Windows core fonts for different types of text in the layout.
Although this works for the major languages supported by the Windows core fonts, this becomes problematic for the new and emerging community languages in Australia. In order to modify the templates to suit these languages, it is necessary to modify the CSS of the template. This requires a working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
This makes it difficult for people within the new and emerging communities to create blogs in their own language.
To modify the template, loggon to Blogger, and from your dashboard:
* click on the "Layout" tab;
* click on "Edit HTML"
This will allow you to edit the current template. You need to edit the following variables: bodyfont, pagetitlefont, titlefont, sidebarheaderfont changing the font declaration to something suitable for the target language.
Some notes on Blogger and Dinka (A Sudanese language) is available on the Dinka ICT Facebook group.
